***Acts of bullying are often invisible to adults and parents sometimes are completely unaware that bullying is occurring. Our children who face such bulling are usually afraid to speak out, even to parents and teachers. They fear that the bullying will get worse if they tell, and they are ashamed of their status as victims.
Victims often keep their problems a secret: They feel they should handle bullying themselves; they worry about the bully’s revenge or other children’s disapproval: and/or they think that adults can do little to help them.
Bullying is the assertion of power through aggression. Its forms change with age: school playground bullying, sexual harassment, gang attacks, date violence, assault, marital violence, child abuse, workplace harassment and elder abuse.
Bullying is not a rite of passage. Bullying is a serious act that has immediate and long-term consequences for a child who is being bullied. So many have felt that they had no where to turn and take their own lives just to escape the pain.
Bullying has been around for what seems like for ever, but it seems to have escalated to a new high.
As a childs author I pride my work on advocating for children for giving our children
the tools they so desire to dream, to inspire and to achieve. My children's book series teaches children to think outside the box and to grow with a positive mind set. The tools to empower our next generation, to give our parents the help and words they need to teach their children and help them develop a positive mindset to be better able them to lead by example.
My third book in the Angels of Inspiration chuildren's book series will be geared to bullying. Id like to ask anyone who reads this post to share their bullying experiences here on my blog with me.
Thank you,
Dawn.

Angel on your shoulder, I am not very big, in fact, I am quite small. I sit on your shoulder, and hear when you call. I go everywhere with you though you can't see me. I am with you always, even in your dreams. I share your laughter, dry your tears when you cry. Every day I'm so proud cause, I see how hard you try. I don't have a name, and I'll never grow older, but, for as long as you live I'll be your little Angel on your shoulder. Poem taken from my childrens book "Angel on My Shoulder"

ReplyDeleteWhat a cute poem at the top! Sounds like a good book. I do agree, bullying has escalated to horrible proportions in today's youth. I guess that's because there's so many new ways to hurt each other with social media. I think the bullying I endured as a child made me stronger and helped me build character, but I had so many aunts and uncles close to my age that I could talk to about it. They always gave me advice about how to handle it, or they stood up for me. Today's children don't often have someone to talk to and they've been made to feel shame from being bullied. It just shouldn't happen. We need to teach our children to be more compassionate with others.
