Anxious and Self-critical.

We believe that our children live carefree, lives without concerns and worry. Many children become anxious and self-critical at an early age.

As parents we can help our children to develop positive thinking skills to think and speak in a more positive manner.

This post will be a two -part post to talk about how to change the negative mindset of our children to a positive more healthy way of thinking.

Part 1... Turning worries into desire and faith.

Worry focuses on what will happen when things go wrong.
When our children express worry by telling us what she doesn’t want to happen, we need to help them to identify and focus on what they want to happen instead. This teaches our children to focus more on positive wants and desires then negative concerns and worries.

Example . . . your child says" I don’t want to do a speech in front of the class. Everyone will laugh at me. That’s negative and worry. We need to change that by asking our child "what they want to happen?" " What if the kids enjoy your speech and applaud?" This changes their perspective and focuses on turning their worries into desires and having faith in themselves.

Children also learn from our examples. Try this simple exercise yourself to promote healthy thinking for the whole family.
